Vtg flat 14 inch Simonds Race-Trak farriers hoof or wood rasp file w/ wood grip

14 inches long, 1 11/16 inches wide, and  20 1/4 inches overall length
, this
flat 14 inch Simonds "Race-Trak" farriers hoof (or wood) rasp & file
is simply a fierce beast of a tool. The 6-to-a-row diamond teeth on the side with the Simonds & Race-Trak logo are sharp and clean (see photos with tape measure); those on the other doublecut side are clean and open yet have seen more use. With side edges also milled, all four faces of this rasp have teeth of some kind. The
screw-on
removable wood grip, a Shur-Grip No. 4, made in U.S.A.
, is drilled for hanging, has a knotted cord through the hole, and shows a couple small dents plus a tight 1 inch crack on one side (see photo) below the metal ferule. Handle is otherwise smooth and intact.
Overall length of this rasp is 20 1/4 inches, at a weight of 24 ounces
--not a toy by any means. Seller has not chemically cleaned or oiled either the tool or handle. Note that rasp shows a bit of white paint at the end of the doublecut side and on its tang just above the handle grip (photos). As an antique this rasp must of course be offered here
