    Description

Horse hoof anatomy section. Research Outlet Plastinate: Bones, tendons, cartilage, horn structure and soft tissue with vascularisation and other fascinating insights into the anatomy and pathology. Real anatomical slice. Anatomical research plastinate section for mesoscopic examination linking macroscopy and microscopy in one scientific anatomical specimen.
Sheet plastination specimen: Size appr. 18 x 12 x 0,2 cm. Please see the images for visible anatomical details.
This is a very thin hoof plastinate with a tissue thickness of less than 500 micron in some areas. The thin tissue layer allows investigation of the horn growth in the coronary region and the sole, but also other mesoscopic and even microscopic details. If you are looking for a specimen as a teaching model for presenting the main anatomical structures and functional mechanisms of the horse foot I would recommend a "Direct" or even stained direct sheet plastinate in which the different structures can be recognized much easier.
The plastinate is several years old and was used for examination many times. The surface is slightly bent and scratched.
The plastinate comes with a certificate as shown and specimen description, date and signature filled in.
For more information about the applied plastination technique I recommend the the AHE special issue about plastination.
